THE youngest city in the region is celebrating the first anniversary of receiving city status on Friday.
Preston beat 26 other towns in England -- including Blackburn and Blackpool -- to win the title last year.
The contest was drawn up as part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee year celebrating her 50 years on the throne.
Council leader Ian Hall says people should not expect to see dramatic changes in the short term, but should look to the future.
