A LASTING tribute to a man who loved to walk in Prestwich Clough was due to be completed this weekend.
The Friends of Prestwich Forest Park began working on a memorial to former member Graham Callan in January with the help of Bury Council.
They prepared the ground near Gardner Mount ready for planting an avenue of trees and tomorrow the planting will finally be completed.
Mr Callan was well-known in the area for walking his dog, Lucy, and collecting fly-tipping refuse in his double-wheeled barrow.
He was a keen supporter of environmental issues and was walking his dog in Philips Park when he collapsed and died last year.
The group will start work at 10am planting 44 trees, including birch, rowan, lime and Scots pine, from Gardner Road to the view point.
Anyone who knew Graham is welcome to join the conservationists. More details on 0161 253 5269.
