THE search is on for a Bolton panto pop idol.

Budding stars could find themselves playing the romantic lead in an all-star cast.

Bolton's Albert Halls together with production company Duggie Chapman Associates are hosting open auditions for any young hopefuls who see themselves cast as Pop Prince in this year's pantomime spectacular.

The successful performer will appear in the lead romantic role in a star cast to an expected audience of more than 25,000 people this Christmas.

But not only that -- the new emerging star will make personal appearances at events, see their name up in lights and be guaranteed to get the girl every night!

The title of this year's pantomime is still a closely guarded secret but celebrities have already been signed up.

Phil Smith, the Albert Halls entertainment manager, said: "We have pretty much cast this year's show already, but wanted to give an opportunity for a complete unknown to come along, impress us and grab what will be a leading role. The role will require a dynamic individual who can act, dance and possess a good pop vocal range, both for up tempo numbers and ballads."

The open auditions take place on Sunday March 23 at the Albert Halls from 11am. Anyone interested is advised to turn up 30 minutes earlier. All those auditioning need to bring sheet music or a backing track on CD or minidisk.
