RAMSBOTTOM A continued their march to retain their Bolton Table Tennis League Premier Division title with an emphatic 8-1 win against Lostock, which include three wins by Top Ten leader Mike Moir, three by Mark Ramsbottom, and two by Andy Jackson.

Tameside, in second spot, also scored an 8-1 win at Hilton A, but they have played more matches than their rivals.

In the other matches trebles were scored by Nigel Hallows and Wayne Renton for Rammy B, and Barry Elliot for Wharton.

In Division One Ladybridge A scored two wins against the two Heaton teams, 7-2 at home to the A team, and 6-3 on their visit to the B team.

Nomads A won at Hilton B to keep up their challenge to win the division, and look to be in a favourable position seven points behind the leaders.

Little Lever C now top Division Two with a 19 point advantage over Heaton C in second place, who they beat this week. The win included a treble by Top Ten leader Ian Lansdale, and must make them favourites to win the division.

BEN A, in third spot one point adrift, scored a comfortable win against bottom team Rushtons.

In the other matches trebles were recorded by Geoff Hall for Halls, Steve Barber for Heaton D, and Gareth Palmer for Nomads B.

The race for the Division Three title is very competitive indeed. At this time Meadow Hill A, Hilton F, and Ladybridge D share the lead, all with 132 points, and it is very difficult to pick a winner.

Of the three Meadow Hill won 7-2 against Hilton E, and Hilton F won at Heaton E, while Ladybridge lost to their C team.

The results included trebles by Top Ten leader Craig Bradbury for Hilton F , Roy Caswell and Phil Noden for Meadow Hill, and Dennis Hough for Ladybridge.

Hilton J have opened up an 11 point lead over Hilton I at the top of Division Four. This week they beat Heaton F with three wins by Andy Harris, two by Eamon McEntee, and one by Jean Smart.

Richard Reading trebled for Jubilee who beat Heaton, as did Alan Fletcher for BEN B at Meadow Hill.

As we move towards the end of the season teams are reminded that they should arrange any outstanding matches as soon as possible, and early entries for the closed championships staged on April 11 and 13 would be appreciated.
