A TOTAL of 750,000 people in the North-west and Merseyside could miss out if they do not claim the new tax credits starting next month.
From April, many families will see money for children paid directly into the mother's bank account, not the father's.
Existing tax credits -- Working Families' Tax Credit, Disabled Person's Tax Credit and Children's Tax Credit -- will be replaced by two new tax credits -- Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit.
All families on up to £50,000 will be guaranteed at least £10.45 a week, with more for those on lower incomes. Anyone who thinks they might be eligible should call the freephone response line on 0800 500 222 or visit www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/
taxcredits to find out more and get a form.
