IT was all good news for Wanderers fans at the weekend as their heroes edged away from the Premiership bottom three while Sunderland and West Brom look destined for the drop.
It started well in Saturday with a result that surely condemned Sunderland fans to watching First Division football next season after a vital 2-0 victory for Big Sam's men.
Second-half strikes from Jay-Jay Okocha and Henrik Pedersen sent the Black Cats to their seventh straight Premiership defeat, and a miserable 10th at home.
It leaves Sunderland rooted to the foot of the table, 10 points adrift of Wanderers, who earned valuable breathing space with their first away win in nine games.
Although West Ham gained a valuable point after a 0-0 draw at Everton, West Brom also look set for a single season in the top flight after Chelsea beat them comfortably 2-0 at The Hawthorns on Sunday.
