COLIN Hendry has warned Wanderers he will only leave the club on a permanent basis if they make it worth his while writes Richard Mulligan
The 37-year-old concludes his three month loan spell with Blackpool tonight at Cardiff City, but negotiations are already under way into cancelling his Reebok Stadium contract so that he can sign for the Seasiders.
If a deal is not sorted the player could return to Bolton on Monday and see out the remaining months of his contract with Wanderers, which runs until June 30.
Sam Allardyce has made it clear that defender Hendry is no longer in his plans - it is over 15 months since he last featured for Wanderers - while Bloomfield Road boss Steve McMahon is desperate to keep him.
Hendry has impressed in his 13 games with McMahon's side and is hoping to sign for the club until the end of the season, when he is expected to retire.
But the Scot wants Wanderers to compensate him for the inevitable pay-cut he would experience in joining a Second Division outfit.
He said: "For a player of my age coming from a Premiership club I am on a considerable contract financially. That's not something that you can just walk away from.
"There's no way I would expect Blackpool to be able to get involved in such a contract so therefore it is up to Bolton to see what they would like to offer me."
A BWFC spokesman said: "We are talking to Colin Hendry's representatives and if we can come up with an arrangement to cancel his contract then he may stay at Blackpool."
