PIGEONS causing a nuisance to traders at Farnworth Market are to be put to flight.
Talks between market bosses and Bolton Council chiefs to discuss purchasing mesh netting to prevent the troublesome birds roosting are underway.
And market bosses have taken delivery of a new cleaning machine to help clear up the mess the pigeons leave behind.
Traders fear that the birds could cause hygiene problems as many stalls sell food .
Market bosses are also concerned that the problem could hit them in the pocket by causing shoppers to stay away.
Shoppers -- who have been urged by stallholders not to feed the pigeons -- have been known to duck for cover as the birds swoop between stalls.
Bosses at the market off King Street are now working on quotes to buy the mesh netting .
