I AM 72 years of age and I have been a Labour supporter all my life and, at times, I have canvassed for councillors in the past.
Reflecting on what is happening to the town by the council makes me angry and sad at the way things are going.
The parking fees and fines are outrageous, The Water Place has gone, so no public baths in the town centre, there are quite a number of empty shops, the transport is very poor in parts of the town, there are very few policemen to be seen on the streets. Police cars I can see, but that doesn't scare the mugger, the purse snatcher, the shop thief, or the man who knocks on your door to check the gas or water, but has no credentials.
Then we have the councillors themselves, being paid high allowances for attending meetings to discuss how to put the council tax up and cut the services down.
I feel, at the next election, there will be a lot of new faces, but they won't be Labour.
