PETER Kay's hit TV comedy Phoenix Nights has won another award.
The second series, screened last summer, was named Best Sitcom/Comedy Drama at the Royal Television Society Awards last night. But Peter missed out himself on the award for Comedy Performance of the Year. That accolade went to Ricky Gervais for his role in The Office. The awards were presented at Le Meridien Grosvenor House Hotel in central London.
Bolton comedian Peter and Phoenix Nights will be in the running for more awards next month. He is nominated for a BAFTA for his Comedy Peformance in the series and the show is nominated in the category of Situation Comedy. The BAFTA winners will be announced on April 13.
Peter is currently touring the country with his record-breaking Mum Wants a Bungalow Tour. He is due to play Bolton's Albert Halls for a week, starting March 31. Extra dates for the tour went on sale on Monday and many venues have already sold out.
