EVERYONE Counts, Bolton Council's newest strategy to combat discrimination, was launched in true community style with representatives from throughout the borough.

Pupils from St Joseph's High School in Horwich demonstrated through drama the wrongs of discrimination, members of voluntary care group Abacus displayed art and craft work created by disabled children and representatives from Bolton's ethnic minority groups mingled with council officials.

The event was held at Bolton Town Hall to celebrate the town's good community relations and promote the council's Education and Cultural Department's new Valuing Diversity Strategy.

Everyone Counts is a document aimed at ensuring equality and inclusion of everyone in the town, regardless of ethnic origin, age or disabilities.

Representatives from more than 20 partners involved in the scheme, including Age Concern, Sport England, Bolton Race Equality Council and the Disability Forum, signed a message of support book which will be circulated on the council website.
