BOLTON protesters will again head to London this weekend to protest against the outbreak of war in Iraq.

The Bolton Stop The War Coalition is organising transport to Saturday's march and is urging anyone opposed to the war to meet in Victoria Square in front of the town hall steps between 5pm and 6pm for a protest vigil on the day war erupts.

Their stance mirrors that of more than 100 lecturers at Bolton Community College who have also vowed to take part in a town centre demonstration if and when war breaks out with Iraq.

The lecturers are members of the National Association for Teachers in Further and Higher Education.

Anyone interested in arranging transport to the Saturday march should contact Neil McCallister, chairman of Bolton Stop The War Coalition on 079313 82398.

Last weekend, people from Bolton joined millions across the world in a wave of candlelight vigils for peace.

Three vigils were held in the town at St Luke's on Chorley Old Road, Halliwell, St George the Martyr on Church Avenue, Daubhill, and by 12 members of Bolton Quakers for Peace who gathered by candlelight in Nelson Square, distributing leaflets and talking to passers-by.
