WARRIORS are hoping skipper Andy Farrell will be fit to steady the ship as they bid to set their Super League campaign back on track this week.

After brushing aside Northern Ford Premiership strugglers Swinton in their Challenge Cup quarter-final, Wigan are desperate to restore their authority in the league following an opening round defeat to Castleford and an unconvincing win over new boys Huddersfield.

Their chance will come with a trip to perennial basement dwellers Wakefield on Sunday and they could be boosted by the return of their leader, who appears to have shaken off a knee problem picked up at Castleford.

Fellow Great Britain forward Mick Cassidy could also return after recovering from both sternum and calf problems.

"Mick and Andy have a good chance of playing this weekend," said Warriors boss Stuart Raper.

"They've been doing a lot of rehabilitation work on their own but this week they should both be able to resume full squad training with the rest of the players. Then we'll be able to take a good look at them."

Brian Carney, knee strain, and Danny Tickle, wrist, may also return for Wigan after sitting out the Swinton game but key prop Terry O'Connor, foot, remains at least a couple of weeks away from a return.

WIGAN'S Powergen Challenge Cup semi-final tie with Bradford Bulls has been confirmed as a 2pm kick-off on Sunday April 13 at Huddersfield's McApline Stadium.
