LITTLE Leah Stokes already knows what her unlucky number is . . . it's No 3.

For the two-year-old was playing with a hammer and shape toy when her hand got stuck in the toy's No 3.

Her mum Lyndsey Powell, of Hollycroft Avenue, Darcy Lever, was forced to dial 999 to call firemen to free her.

Leah was playing with sister Amy, aged 18 months, and a neighbour's son,18-month-old Joel Collard, knocking numbers through shapes.

But instead of a shape going through the No 3 hole, Leah's hand ended up in it.

Mum Lyndsey said: "One minute she was playing nicely, then the next minute she came to me with a toy stuck on her hand. She was very upset and it set all the other children off screaming.

"I couldn't bear to watch her so upset. When the firemen came along it didn't take them long to get it off."

Neighbour Lindsay Hodgson, whose house the incident took place in, also on Hollycroft Avenue, said: "We were having a chat and then heard a cry and Leah saying "Mummy, it won't come off".

"It was on about half an hour and she was extremely distressed. We tried to pull it off but were frightened of pulling too hard.

"Then we put baby oil on it, but still couldn't get it off. We were relieved when the firemen came and they managed to pull it off.

"They said it was probably easier because the baby oil had soaked in."

A firefighter from Bolton North said Leah was "right as rain" after the incident.
