FORREST Badminton Club look like ending the season with mixed blessings.
Their A team will finish in the bottom half of A Section while their B team faces relegation from the top division.
Forrest C, however, will certainly earn promotion from D Section and could well take the championship, and Forrest D are already E Section champions.
Forrest E will complete the season mid-table in E Section, and the club's predominantly young F team will finish a respectable mid-table in F Section.
All the teams have had a highly competitive season -- as Forrest E's away match against Deane C showed.
Joan Hatchman and G Everitt took the opening game for Deane, only to have youngsters Danielle Skelly and Stuart Powers win the second for the visitors.
Forrest's top couple Ann Schofield and Jim Clough took both their games for Forrest, but Deane's strong third couple C Everitt and P Day kept the scores level with both their mixed.
When Danielle and Stuart took both their second games, however, Forrest moved 6-4 ahead.
Unfortunately for the visitors, the home side took both top men's and ladies' to put them within striking distance of at least a point.
Forrest had other ideas, though. Danielle Skelly and Philippa McCarthy took both second ladies to put Forrest back on level-pegging.
And, with both teams needing the two final men's games for maximum points, it was perhaps quite fitting that Forrest took the first, and Deane the second for an honourable draw.
