RING and Ride users in Bolton are benefiting from a new addition to the fleet following the delivery of a new state-of-the-art vehicle.
Ring and Ride is a fully accessible door- to-door transport service designed to provide short local journeys for people who have access and mobility difficulties, funded by the Greater Manchester Transport Authority (GMPTA).
The keys to a new Mercedes Benz Sprinter 411 CDI minibus, which is fully accessible for wheelchair users and has devices such as tail lifts, auxiliary steps and hand rails, were handed over to the Bolton Ring and Ride Depot by Bolton's representative on the GMPTA Cllr Guy Harkin.
Cllr Harkin said: "Ring and Ride provides an invaluable service for those who find it difficult to get out to bus stops or get on and off the ordinary type of buses.
"We want to keep the fleet as new as possible so I'm pleased that we have been able to provide this modern vehicle." More details about Bolton Ring and Ride are available on 01204 398111.
Many journeys are undertaken every day, so the Ring and Ride service vehicles are a familiar sight on the roads of Bolton and I'm sure that this new vehicle will be no exception."
