RESIDENTS will illuminate a local park with light tonight when they take a "Walk in the Dark on Tip Park".
The event, organised by the Oldhams Residents Association at Astley Bridge, will include a lantern procession and will be led by local band, Pulse.
Residents are also invited to join in a range of activities earlier in the day, from 2.30pm. The idea is to generate ideas on the best uses for the park's green spaces.
The lantern procession begins at 6.30pm and will wind its way around the Astley Bridge estate and back to Tip Park.
Children and parents have made more than 60 lanterns for the procession in workshops run by the residents association and the Action Factory community arts group.
The group of residents involved in the project have also teamed up to try to improve the Dunoon Drive area on the estate.
