A BARBER'S 'lather boy' and pitman, Alex Finney was snapped up by Wanderers when New Brighton dropped a clanger and left his name off their retained list in 1922.
A year later he played left back in the historic FA Cup Final triumph over West Ham at Wembley - at 22, the youngest member of the Bolton team. He missed the 1926 triumph over Manchester City with a knee injury but was back in 1929 when Wanderers lifted the cup for the third time in six years, beating Portsmouth. When he died in 1982, aged 81, he had outlived all but the legendary Dick Pym from the 1923 team.
Appearances: 530. Goals: 2.
