WHO did what
4-3-3
JUSSI JAASKELAINEN ... 7
Never seriously troubled, thanks to good defending, but his handling was
sound.
BRUNO N'GOTTY ... 8
Defended stoutly but also managed to get forward in swupport of the second
half raids.
FLORENT LAVILLE ... 8
Another solid show by the man Allardyce hails as the key to the defensive
improvement.
GUDNI BERGSSON ... 8
So desperately close to scoring against his old club but his best work was
at the back.
RICARDO GARDNER ... 5
Withdrawn at half-time with a hamstring injury after an uncomfortable first
45.
PER FRANDSEN ... 8
Typically energetic and intelligent performance; a vital goal-line
clearance.
IVAN CAMPO ... 8
One of his best performances in a Bolton shirt; his range of passing was
impressive.
JAY-JAY OKOCHA ... 7
He may have converted the most important penalty of his career; never batted an eye.
BERNARD MENDY ... 6
Squandered a first half chance; in the wars during the second period before his withdrawal.
HENRIK PEDERSEN ... 7
Tireless in his efforts but no joy this time for the big Dane.
YOURI DJORKAEFF ... 9
Involved at some stage or other in practically everything Wanderers did in attacking terms.
Subs: Anthony Barness (8) for Gardner h-t, Pierre-Yves Andre for Mendy 72 mins. Not used: Kevin Nolan, Salva Ballesta, Kevin Poole.

Man of the Match
YOURI DJORKAEFF
IT was fitting that he should win the decisive penalty. He was at the centre of just about everything Wanderers did going forward. His best performance for some time.
Magic Moment
IF you can keep your head while all those around you are losing theirs ... Nails were being chewed and pulses were racing and Jay-Jay Okocha did not seem to have a care in the world.
Moan of the Match
TEDDY Sheringham is still class but he moaned when Spurs' first corner appeal was turned down, moaned when a throw-in went Wanderers' way and was moaning after the obvious penalty was awarded.
KICK BY KICK
11 mins: Laville looks like being caught out by Anderton's chipped pass but recovers his ground well to guide the ball safely back to Jaaskelainen to deny Davies a sight of goal.
21 mins: Laville foils Keane and launches a swift counter-attack featuring Frandsen and Djorkaeff, who sets up Okocha on the left for a screaming left-footer that flies just wide of the angle.
25 mins: Another promising attack ends with Mendy shooting wildly over Keller's crossbar.
29 mins: Djorkaeff sends Pedersen away and the Dane's shot is on target but straight at the keeper.
32 mins: Bergsson shows amazing pace to prevent Carr making the most of Sheringham's defence-puncturing pass.
35 mins: Frandsen clears a close-range shot from Bunjevcevic off the line as Spurs' sixth corner causes panic in the Wanderers area.
Half-time:
Wanderers 0, Spurs 0.
57 mins: Mendy and Keller are both brave and both are injured when they collide in a 50-50 going for Djorkaeff's breathtaking through ball.
71 mins: Djorkaeff helps on Jaaskelainen's long clearance for Pedersen to prod a first-time shot narrowly wide.
73 mins: Okocha cannot believe his luck as he heads off target after Barness' shot rebounds off Keller as the end of a Campo-Djorkaeff inspired move.
74 mins: Bergsson is distraught as he gets up to meet Djorkaeff's free kick only to see his header hit the post.
75 mins: Keller is in the thick of it again, finger-tipping Djorkaeff's sweetly-struck left-footer over the bar.
81 mins: It's Keller again, this time turning Andre's shot round the post after some excellent approach play by Okocha, N'Gotty and Djorkaeff .
83 mins: For all their pressure, Wanderers are almost caught out by Poyet's pass but Keane cannot make it count and Jaaskelainen gratefully mops up.
83 mins: Djorkaeff supplies the perfect near-post cross but Pedersen cannot get the decisive touch.
92 mins: Andre heads on Jaaskelainen's clearance, Djorkjaeff's touch takes him past Doherty and the trip leaves Mr Poll an easy decision. Okocha converts the penalty and Spurs just have time to kick off before the final whistle sounds.
Full-time:
Wanderers 1, Spurs 0.
