BOLTON has always has a strong connection with Radio 1 -- after all two of its most popular presenters, Sara Cox and Mark Radcliffe, are Bolton born and bred.
And now they are coming home, for the weekend at least, as Radio 1 visits Life Cafe in Bolton for On The Road, from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 bringing Coxy and Radcliffe back into the busom of bonny Bolton, where they are sure to be met with a fantastic reception.
WITH two Bolton-born DJs on the payroll it couldn't be long before Radio 1 had to admit that Bolton is capable of creating much more than just a damn fine pasty.
And so Radio 1 is going On The Road from March 28 to 30, with a weekend of free events and radio shows featuring not only Sara Cox and Mark Radcliffe, but also Judge Jules, Steve Lamacq and Emma B.
The events will be taking place at Life Bar Cafe, one of the newest bars to hit Bolton, and certainly one of the few spacious enough to play host to the amount of events lined up for this weekend.
Highlights include Sara Cox's breakfast show on Friday from 7am until 10am, which will be attended by pupils from Coxy's old school, Mark and Lard's show on Friday featuring Richard Ashcroft (okay, he's from Wigan, but we won't tell) and a session with Judge Jules giving the opportunity to get advice on DJing and dance production.
There is also the chance for live bands to get in on the action, with Steve Lamaq's Meet The Industry show, and advice from James King on how to make it in the movies.
Whether you see your future on radio or just want to get down there and be part of it all, this Radio 1 weekend special is a must for any proud Boltonian. Check out www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 for more details.
