A MAN was dragged for several yards hanging out of a car following a day trip, a court heard.
Paul Molyneux claimed that Stuart Bentley, his sister's boyfriend, had driven backwards just as he was getting back into the car.
Molyneux claimed he was dragged for several yards half-in and half-out of the car when Bentley suddenly reversed his car.
But Bentley said Molyneux had been aggressive and abusive towards his sister and that he had punched him.
He admitted driving the car in the street but said he had been trying to get away from Molyneux.
Bentley, aged 26, of Sloane Street in Bolton, appeared at Bolton Crown Court to stand trial.
He denied assaulting Paul Molyneux, occasioning him actual bodily harm and dangerous driving on June 23 last year during an incident in Park Street, Bolton.
Molyneux's sister Karen had contacted him and suggested they go out for the day with her boyfriend Bentley.
They set off and went to Rivington where they had a drink and then later went to Blackpool.
Molyneux claimed that his sister and her boyfriend had demanded some cash back that they had loaned to him following a row in the car.
He agreed to pay the cash back and went to borrow it from his friend but as he got in the car to hand over the money he claimed Bentley suddenly reversed at speed.
He said he was half-in and half-out and scraped his back and head on the road. He said he was left on the road while Bentley sped off with the door still open.
