THE show went well although I had borrowed a pair of Sven like glasses for the show and couldn't see
through them. In between being on and off camera, I was hurriedly changing glasses.
One minute as blind as a bat and the next scanning the huge studio crew. I was now a celebrity. My driver Frank had rescued the situation (although he's never been allowed to forget it!).
Endless cups of tea on the show followed by an off screen breakfast. This was the life, TV fame and back home. Would it ever happen again?
On the way back to Manchester, I received a call from Vision Express, the national opticians. They told me that they supplied "Sven's glasses" and were now offering me a pair. I was quite taken aback by this, as the offer was for an entirely free pair of glasses which would undoubtedly improve my image especially as they were the real
thing. To this day, Vision Express have been a major sponsor and I cannot thank them enough.
We arrived back late in the evening and sat back to watch the morning's events on the videotape of the show.
