THESE two fascinating photographs of old Bolton have been lent to me by the Halliwell Local History Society.
The one above shows the junction of Deansgate and Queen Street, and Peter Nightingale of the Society tells me that the picture would not have been taken after the 1920s, but must have been after 1908, because that was when the Hippodrome Theatre, partially seen on the right, was built.
The other photograph (top) was taken in 1957, showing the Deansgate corner with St Edmund Street, near where the old fire station stood.
