A SOCCER club is in mourning following the death of the man known as Mr "Tottington United".
Mr Vincent Holden got involved with the club 21 years ago when it was a church team and was responsible for building up the side to its present form. He held various posts, including manager, and had latterly been the club secretary.
Mr Holden (54), of Brandlesholme Road, Bury, died on Tuesday after a short illness. He leaves a wife Linda and two children, Ross and Rachael.
He was well-known throughout local soccer circles.
Mr Holden had run his own company, Tottington Windows. He was a member of the Pilkington Masonic Lodge in Radcliffe and had recently joined Tottington Rotary Club. But his first love was football.
Mr Stuart Johnson, acting chairman of Tottington United, said: "From my point of view, Vincent was Mr Tottington United. He virtually held every post in the club and his death will leave a very big void."
A funeral service will take place at St Anne's Church, Tottington, next Thursday (April 3) at 1pm. Family only will attend the committal at Overdale Crematorium.
