BBC Radio 5 presenter Victoria Derbyshire had to stop reading a news bulletin after she broke down because of an illness.
Concerned listeners rang the Bolton Evening News to find out what was wrong with the 34-year-old, who comes from Turton, after she had to stop reading the 8am news on the breakfast show on Friday.
Victoria, who is a Wanderers fan, was halfway through the bulletin when she stopped, and co-presenter Nicky Campbell had to take over.
A spokeswoman for Radio 5 Live said Miss Derbyshire had to go outside for some fresh air and a glass of water. She was able to continue with the remainder of the show.
"She wasn't feeling very well to start off with, but when she started reading the news out she started to feel much worse, so she had to let Nicky take over," said the spokeswoman.
"I know it may have sounded like she was getting emotional because she was reading a story about the war in Iraq, but she just wasn't feeling very well. She will be glad to hear that so many people have called to find out how she is."
The former Bury Grammar School pupil is backing the Evening News "Keep the Whites Up" campaign to help Wanderers stay in the Premiership.
