TWO days after extolling the virtues of Sky TV and stressing the importance to the club of the satellite station's cash backing, Phil Gartside was told another fixture - the game at Southampton on May 3 - would be screened live on pay-per-view.
Not a Monday night spectacular but all grist to the financial mill and, as the Bolton chairman points out, not to be sniffed at writes Gordon Sharrock
As he puts it: "The income from games on TV is a vital contribution to our financial performance."
And, just in case the Sky hierarchy missed it first time, this was how he eulogised: "The importance of Sky to English football is immense and long may it continue. I enjoy the fantastic coverage football receives and nobody has done it better than Sky. Let us hope they continue with their support."
At this point I would like to say Vauxhall have done a marvellous job producing family saloon cars down the years and the new Vectra is just the latest in a long line of winners - much better than my three-year-old model!
