A BOLTON school has been awarded £5,000 to increase parent involvement in their children's achievements.
Rumworth school in Ladybridge has won a BT education award to record and present pupils' acheivements using information technology.
The award involves putting a large monitor in the school entrance with a computer running a PowerPoint display.
The content would be updated regularly by pupils and staff. A scanner and camera would scan work pupils are proud of, or take photographs of achievements both in and around school.
It is hoped the project will also result in text messages being sent to parents on mobile phones to tell them their children's work was on the school display.
BT gives £100,000 every term to schools which use information technology to promote learning.
Richard Hamer, programme co-ordinator, said: "We are delighted to be able to help a number of schools each term and wish Rumworth School luck as they begin their project".
Two £15,000 awards and 14 awards of £5,000 are available. Schools interested in entering the awards should log on to: www.bt.com/education
The BT Schools Awards are part of the BT Education programme, which invests more than £4 million a year into education in the UK.
