A NURSERY school headteacher is inviting past pupils and families to come and join her retirement celebration.

After 27 years of being a headteacher, Isobel Marron is retiring from St Germain Nursery School in Farnworth.

To celebrate she is holding an open day at the nursery in St Germain Street on April 9, between 9am and 5pm, for former pupils and their families.

The day will be just one event that she has planned for that week. Other celebrations will involve a bouncy castle and entertainers.

Mrs Marron said: "It has been wonderful working here. I've made some great friendships with parents."

Mrs Marron, aged 64, started her career in Rochdale. She took up her first headship at Pikes Lane Infants School, a position she held for 13 years, until the school became a primary school. She then transferred to St Germain Nursery and has been there for the past 14 years.

and two terms, where she has had two successful Ofsted inspections in which the behaviour of the children was praised.

When she retires Mrs Marron said she intends to help out at her church and spend time with her grandchildren.
