I FEEL I must respond to Mr Don McNamara's letter in which he says Gareth Farrelly was not given a fair deal by the Wanderers fans.

Like him I thought Farrelly was a decent passer but that was all he was.

The statistic was raised this season that Wanderers hardly ever won a Premiership game that Farrelly played in and surely that must be the bottom line.

Wanderers were a worse team with him in it and that's why some of the fans did not like him.

What did he do for the team apart from pass? He did not win the ball or score goals and too often looked out of his depth.

The fans will forgive a player anything if they can see he is giving his heart and soul for the cause but the fans felt he sometimes did not work hard enough or care as much as the rest of the players. When you are at the bottom of the Premiership every player has got to give his all like what is happening at the moment with the recent good results.

I, too, wish Farrelly all the best at Rotherham. But only because it will hopefully mean we will not be seeing him again at the Reebok.
