NINE members of Jack Caldwell's middle and long distance squad represented Greater Manchester and Lancashire in the recent English Schools Cross Country Championships.
This represents more than threequarters of the eligible athletes training with the veteran coach. Jack is locally renowned for his coaching skills and among the athletes are Tom Lancashire who this weekend represents Great Britain in the World Junior Cross Country Championships after finishing third in the English Schools and Rachel Pounds who in her first competitive season at cross country became Northern Clubs Under 1's Champion. Over the years Jack has brought on many young athletes to county, national and international honours and the present crop of youngsters are continuing that tradition.
