HALLIWELL Winter Rounders League completed its season in perfect weather when all 12 teams played in the Russell Seddon Tournament.
The teams played in three groups of four, the grouping being based on the final league positions. League champions Darcy XI lost narrowly in their first two games, but league runners-up Westhoughton & District won all three of their matches to qualify for the semi-finals.
Smithills, Coaching House, with two wins, were hopeful of qualifying as highest-scoring runners up, but were beaten to that spot by Boundary Ladies who were runners-up in Group Two. Bolton Lads & Girls Club won that group by a single point after drawing their final match with Lower Pools.
Unbeaten Pineapple XI booked their place in the semi-finals thanks to three straight wins, although they had a tight final match against Cheetham Ladies.
In the semi-finals, Bolton Lads and Girls Club trounced Boundary Ladies by 51 runs while Westhoughton & District also had an easy passage as they defeated Pineapple XI by 55 runs.
Unfortunately for Bolton Lads & Girls Club, they could not maintain their good form against Westhoughton & District in the final and scored just 16 runs. The handicap gave them a total of 46, but with an impressive 71 runs, Westhoughton & District were worthy winners.
