IN a few weeks, it will be the 50th anniversary of Bolton's appearance in the 1953 Cup Final at Wembley (for obviously reasons, I am glossing over the result!).
This picture, though was taken five years later, when the Wanderers beat Manchester United to lift the Cup. It has been sent to me by Mr Terry Hyams, of Tudor Avenue, Bolton, but he got it from Mrs Shirley Marsh (nee Mills), of Wigan Road, Bolton, who was at the match with her sister Coleen - they were both nursing in London at the time - and father Percy, who lived in Lever Edge Lane, Bolton, and had travelled down for the Final.
The Bolton mascot holding up a cut-out of the trophy in front of the crowd (the picture must have been taken before we won the real thing!) was David Hartley.
