ESSEX giant Will Jefferson put Lancashire on the rack in the South African triangular tournament yesterday.
The 6ft 10in ace slammed a century as Essex coasted to a seven wickets triumph and hurt Lancashire's chances of reaching the final.
In contrast to Jefferson, who plundered runs off the normally immaculate Peter Martin and Gary Yates, Lancashire could rarely get out of first gear in their innings.
In form Mal Loye carved out an unbeaten 94 but Lancashire were restricted to a modest 191-4 off their 45 overs.
The Red Rose side must beat Western Province today to retain any hope of making the final.
