DOZENS of friends and family are expected to attend the funeral of grandmother Mary Ellen Crank on Thursday.
Mrs Crank, known as Ellen, was found dead in the kitchen of her home in Kingscourt Avenue, Brownlow Fold, after returning home from celebrating her 76th birthday.
Mrs Crank died from stab wounds and her body was discovered by a neighbour two days later.
She is believed to have died on Sunday, February 23 after returning from her birthday celebration at a game of bingo with friends, including her sister Sally, at the Victory Community Centre on Chorley Old Road.
The funeral will take place at 2pm at Overdale west chapel.
Mrs Crank's 45-year-old son Stanley has been charged with murdering his mother.
