SCHOOLBOY Peter Kay fan, Matthew Gannon could not believe his luck when he ended up on stage on Monday's first night.
The 13-year-old pupil from Rivington and Blackrod School shared the spotlight with the comedian as he performed his encore to a rapturous audience.
Young Matthew had been sitting in front of a heckler shouting for Kay to throw out his towel into the audience. On realising the youngster was sitting in close proximity, the comedian invited him up on stage to pick up the treasured momento of the evening. Clutching his souvenir, the delighted teenager said: "I was very nervous but also enjoyed the experience."
And what of the towel? Matthew replied: "I think it will be going up on my bedroom wall."
