A BOLTON businessman is making a success of his company -- by selling the same kind of goods as his father.

But there is no family conflict -- as Rashid Mogradia is selling to the world via the internet, while his father trades through shops in and around Bolton.

Rashid's website -- www.dobuy.co.uk -- receives hundreds of thousands of 'hits' a week.

And it has attracted customers from Norway and Belgium, as well as the UK and Australia.

"I was not really ready for an order from Australia," said Rashid.

The site offers a variety of gifts and gadgets, including Micro pets, muscle tone-up belts, and LED light keychains.

"My father sells these items very successfully in shops in the Bolton area, but I felt I had to try to set up my own business," Rashid said.

Rashid graduated in IT three years ago and has worked with Bolton's Ethnic Minority Business Service (EMBS) since then.

He originally began building his website to show others the possibilities of internet technology, but then decided to turn it into a business site.

Rashid said: "I put all my savings into it, and of course I am glad that it is a success for me. But I also want the site to act as an example.

"If I can do it, you can do it. It is all about having the self-confidence to go ahead.

"If I can see another young Bolton person make a success with a similar business then I will be happy."

But Rashid said that his success was driving him on to achieve another ambition.

He joked: "Of course, I'd also like to retire at the age of 30. I'm working on that right now!"
