BOLTON Schools Under 15s failed to make it into the semi-finals of the North West Alder Cup after going down 1-0 to Warrington in their quarter-final clash at Sharples School.

The game was hard-fought affair in the early exchanges and Bolton almost broke the deadlock midway through the half but Aaron Singleton's goal was disallowed for offside.

Goalkeeper Scott Moore and centre back Keith Wedge had to be at their best to keep a lively Warrington side at bay but the game remained goalless at the break.

Warrington finally clinched victory with a goal five minutes from time.

Bolton U14s fared better, beating Oldham 4-2 in a Greater Manchester Schools' League match at Hacken Lane.

They were quick off the mark, opening the scoring after six minutes through Simon Walsh on his debut before Oldham hit back on the hour.

Adam Starkey then scored from a Dean O'Donoghue corner to restore the lead and, after Oldham levelled the scores again, O'Donoghue and Starkey both completed their braces.
