Wanderers stars ran to the aid of a woman injured when she was thrown from her horse.
The players were on a cross country training run when they saw the accident near Anglezarke Reservoir at 2pm on Wednesday.
A woman believed to be aged between 25 and 30 was riding her horse along a dirt track when the horse reared up and she was thrown off the animal. At one point it is believed the horse may have trampled on her.
The Wanderers staff are believed to have raised the alarm.
The North West Air Ambulance was then scrambled to the area which is inaccessible to vehicles.
The players and training staff then helped the air crew carry the woman -- who is believed to be from a local farm -- on a spinal board about 70 yards over fields to the helicopter.
The woman was then flown to the Royal Preston Hospital where she is believed to have been detained overnight.
