EAGLEY'S improved league form continued at the weekend, following a comfortable 4-1 win over Cumbrian visitors Milnthorpe Corinthians in the West Lancs Premier Division.
The result was never in doubt after the villagers in-form striker Carl Grimshaw grabbed a brace of goals within a five minute spell midway through the first half.
Rob Howarth made it 3-0 just before half-time with a fine glancing header from Tony Burnett's corner kick.
The second half proved a non-event and, although Milnthorpe reduced the arrears on 80 minutes through Andy Owen, it was the villagers who had the final say when Sean Hill fired in an unstoppable volley from 35 yards, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
Eagley take on Burnley United in the Richardson Cup semi-final on Saturday. The game will be played at Fulwood Amateurs at 2.30pm.
Blackrod Town lost 4-3 to Wyre Villa despite controlling the game for large periods.
The home side took the lead with a Sam Grundy goal on 40 minutes but, against the run of play, Wyre Villa equalised in first half extra-time to make it 1-1.
Blackrod were back in the lead on 65 minutes as Mark Height volleyed in a lovely left wing cross from David Sutch.
Soon it was 3-1 to Blackrod as Chris Tonge scored unchallenged.
But they then displayed the defensive lapses that have lost them so dearly this last month as a penalty and two goals from failed clearances cost them the match.
Blackrod Reserves lost 4-1 away at Tempest United, Blackrod played nervously on an uneven surface and Tempest took advantage of that. Andy Mobais scored for Blackrod.
