Wanderers fans will have been delighted to read reports that Jay-Jay Okocha intends to play out the rest of his career at the Reebok.
But study the statement carefully and, although he says he fully intends to stay in England after having spells in Germany, Turkey and France, he never actually says he plans to put down his roots in Bolton.
Okocha, who scored in the successive victories over Sunderland and Spurs that raised hopes of another successful survival mission, told www.kickoffnigeria.com: "I have really enjoyed myself in England and I would wish to end my career there.
"The passion in England is unbelievable. You just have to be there to experience it. And the game there is now ready to take in foreigners like me.
"My family has settled down nicely in England thanks to the language and very soon my daughter, Daniella, will start primary school. So I won't want to disrupt their day-to-day life."
Survival is the key of course. The Nigerian World Cup star would not fancy playing in the Nationwide League, even if Wanderers could afford to keep him.
For the time being supporters should consider themsleves privileged to be watching one of the most gifted players ever to wear a Bolton shirt.
