WANDERERS

4-3-3

JUSSI JAASKELAINEN ... 7

His early save from Anelka proved vital; after that it was routine stuff.

BRUNO N'GOTTY ... 8

He looked the part; self-assured and never in any trouble.

FLORENT LAVILLE ... 9

Outstanding yet again; Lyon must have quite a defence to let him go.

GUDNI BERGSSON ... 8

For once the skipper was overshadowed by his sidekick, but only just.

RICARDO GARDNER ... 7

Given the licence to get forward on the left; no sign of that hamstring problem.

PER FRANDSEN ... 8

Another impresisvely hard-working and highly-productive performance.

IVAN CAMPO ... 8

Composed, controlled and classy ... were you watching Rodney Marsh?

JAY-JAY OKOCHA ... 9

The ultimate showman but hard working too; what a response to that penalty miss!

BERNARD MENDY ... 7

Looked all at sea in the first quarter then hit City at a rate of knots.

HENRIK PEDERSEN ... 8

Reckoned he was just in the right place at the right time but worked hard for his goal.

YOURI DJORKAEFF ... 8

Showed all the confidence and the authority of a World Cup winner.

Subs: Delroy Facey for Pedersen 76 mins, Kevin Nolan for Okocha 88 mins, Jermaine Johnson for Djorkaeff 90 mins. Not used: Anthony Barness, Kevin Poole.

MAN OF THE MATCH

JAY-JAY OKOCHA

FEW players have the ability to conjure up the magic he is capable of - even on the training ground. To produce it in such a game shows amazing self-confidence. But he is not just a juggler - he is a grafter and showed great determination after his penalty miss.

MAGIC MOMENT

THE dribbles, dummies, drag-backs and backheels were a joy to watch but it was Okocha's more orthodox contribution that made all the difference - the high-speed one-two he played with Frandsen before delivering the cross for Pedersen's goal. City simply had no answer.

MOAN OF THE MATCH

CITY'S abject display, once Wanderers got into their stride had Kevin Keegan talking about "performances that get managers the sack". Or did the former Newcastle, Fulham and England boss mean performances that prompt managers to give up and walk away!
