POLICE are hunting for a dirt bike rider who ran over a dog in front of its six-year-old owner.
The heartbroken young boy had been walking his two year-old border terrier with his father last Wednesday on the outskirts of Lilford Park, Leigh. The boy's father, who did not want to be named, said the motocross rider did not stop after the incident in which the dog received injuries from which it died.
The rider was wearing white motocross leathers and a white open-faced helmet. His machine was white, fluorescent orange and green.
Anyone with information should contact PC Dave Newton on 0161 856 7225, Leigh CID on 0161 856 7253, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
