MIKE Harrison was born in Bolton, but has lived in New York (the American one, not the one in Bolton!) for the past 40 years.
He tells me that he attended Tonge Fold School in the 1950s, and started work at the Co-op on Oxford Street in 1955, and this picture was taken of him in 1956-7 for the front cover of a brochure sent to local schools to get students to consider a career at the Co-op.
"It was also published in the Evening News at the time," he writes.
Mike tells me that he reads the Evening News online almost every day, and especially likes Looking Back because the photographs bring back memories of his growing up in Bolton.
"Among the photographs online was one of Boardman Street showing a group of children and some adults. I lived on Boardman Street at that time, and one of the adults shown is my aunt. No doubt I know others, but do not recognise them. Fortunately, my cousin sent the picture to you, so I am sure he will be able to tell me who they are."
If you recall Mr Harrison, and would like to contact him, he has the marvellous e-mail address, especially for someone who has not lived here for 40 years: Ebygumlad1@aol.com
