IMPERIAL War Museum North's first major exhibition looks at the way music, dance, cinema, theatre and comedy voice the emotions of wartime.
The event looks at 100 years of wartime entertainment and the effect it has had on the lives of all those involved.
It will bring together a cast of singers, comedians, actors and performers ranging from Arthur Askey and Dame Vera Lynn to Billy Bragg and Claire Sweeney.
There is also a programme of special events including song, dance and comedy for the opening weekend and on Bank Holiday weekends and selected Wednesdays and Sundays.
Admission is free.
