SCIENCE Minister Lord Sainsbury was visiting the town today to officially open a new technology centre at Bolton Institute.
He was also expected to unveil a blue plaque at Manchester University's Kilburn Building to celebrate the work of Tom Kilburn and Frederick Williams, who created what was effectively the world's first modern computer in 1948.
