CUSTOMERS and staff at Asda Pilsworth showed their appreciation for British troops in the Gulf by putting together a bumper food parcel.
Toiletries, sweets and tinned foods, to a value of more than £1,000, were donated by shoppers and supermarket workers for armed services personnel serving in Iraq. The idea came from Asda Travel Choice employee Dawn Bennison, whose brother is with the Seventh Army Desert Rats.
Events co-ordinator Linda Gee said: "We would like to thank everyone who contributed and say that we have been overwhelmed by their generosity."
In recent weeks the store has also been collecting for the British Red Cross, to help relieve wider humanitarian consequences of the conflict.
