A MAN was branded "disgusting" by a judge and jailed for three years for sexually abusing a poorly seven-year-old girl from Farnworth.

Mohammud Ramankhan, aged 27, a house guest at a home in Walthamstow, east London, coaxed the girl her into his bedroom, put his hands under her clothes and pretended to examine her in a game of "doctors and nurses".

He became the first person to be extradited from the African island of Mauritius after he fled the UK to his home country days after the attack in Walthamstow, east London.

Once his sentence has been served he will deported back to the tropical island.

Passing sentence, Judge Martyn Zeidman, QC, told him: "This was a disgusting case, it was an indecent assault against a seven-year-old child."

"This has caused great distress not only to the child, but also her mother and other members of the family.

"You were trusted, but in the privacy of your bedroom you molested this little girl.

"This was disgusting behaviour."

A jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court had found him guilty of indecent assault.

Ramankhan struck when the seven-year-old victim from Farnworth when she was visiting Walthamstow.

The schoolgirl fell ill and was resting in the living room after a visit to the doctor's on February 27, 2000.

Ramankhan was in his bedroom listening to music when he noticed the youngster standing outside his door and told her to come in.

The girl's mother saw her run out of Ramankhan's bedroom straight into her room, slamming the door behind her. When the mother asked what was wrong, the child said Ramankhan had assaulted her.

Ramankhan denied the allegation and walked out of the house.

The girl was examined by a doctor who found signs of a sexual assault.

Interpol were contacted and local police arrested Ramankhan to send him back to England to face charges on July 18 last year.

Ramankhan, of Winchester Road, Lower Edmonton, was found guilty of one charge of indecent assault.
