PRESTWICH HEYS 1 LEIGH ATHLETIC 1: For the second week running Leigh were denied by an equaliser 30 seconds from time.
In their final league game of the season Leigh were soon firmly in command and deservedly took the lead when Steve Bevan fired home following good approach work by Karl Sheppard. Looking soilid at the back and dangerous going forward Leigh just could not finish off Pretwich by getting a killer second goal and paid dearly when with 30 seconds remaining the home side scrambled home an equaliser in a carbon copy of last weeks draw at Irlam MS. A good performance from Leigh with every player working hard and Nick Pilling outstanding on his debut.
The players would like to thank all officials at the club, Jimmy Evans and especially Rob Holgate for the efforts put in throughout a difficult injury-ravaged season.
