BOLTON'S first citizen spoke about his mayoral role in a question and answer session with pupils at a primary school.
Cllr John Walsh described his duties on a visit to Halliwell's Wolfenden C P School.
Headteacher Graham Bedford said the visit was the last a mayor will ever make to the school.
Wolfenden School, which opened in 1913, is due to amalgamate with Chalfont Community School in Chalfont Street to make one school --The Valley. The new school will be in a purpose built £3.4 million building in Hibbert Street.
Mr Bedford said: "It is sad because this school has given a tremendous amount to the area. Over the last five, six, seven years we have had high attainment here and the staff have worked very hard - it is sad that this will be going."
But he added that the staff and children were looking ahead to their move to the new school.
