A LANDLADY was arrested when police swooped on a pub on the outskirts of Bolton town centre.
The licensee, and her partner, were arrested after team of more than 20 police officers with a search warrant raided the Royal Hotel in Vernon Street at 4pm on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said the pub was suspected of being used as a base by criminals to sell on stolen goods. Uniform and CID officers were accompanied by men from the Tactical Aid Unit and police dogs.
The couple were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and handling stolen property. They were released later last night on police bail. A customer also arrested was cautioned in connection with drug offences. The police team also took away a quantity of cannabis and ammunition for firearms.
Today, Det Insp Andy Aston warned: "If you are a burglar or someone who handles stolen goods do not be too surprised when we come knocking on your door ."
